【MT AUTOMATION】Successfully held the "Building Excellent Products" special training: focused on DFX design concepts and cross-departmental collaboration practice

Release Date: 2025-09-15 12:00

The design philosophy of DFX is "synergy", which is "prevention".

[September 9-10,2025] —— To comprehensively enhance product competitiveness and implement integrated product development concepts, MT AUTOMATION Co., Ltd. recently hosted an internal training session titled "Building Exceptional Products: Durable Design (DFX) Philosophy and Cross-Department Collaboration." The event was led by Dr. Hu Baomin, Vice President of MT AUTOMATION and Director of the Research Institute, who introduced advanced DFX design thinking to break down departmental barriers, strengthen collaborative innovation, and establish a solid theoretical foundation and practical framework for achieving "first-time product success."

At the outset of the training, Dr. Hu focused on "holistic design beyond functionality," providing a clear and accessible explanation of DFX (Design for X) value proposition and core concepts. He emphasized that DFX goes beyond traditional functional implementation, representing a systematic design methodology spanning the entire product lifecyclefrom design, assembly, testing, maintenance to recycling. Dr. Hu stressed that proactively addressing all critical factors like quality, cost, efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability during early development stages constitutes the essence of a "preventive" rather than "remedial" strategy.

Under Dr. Hu's guidance, the training entered its core phase. He conducted a detailed analysis of DFX's key dimensions including design (DFM), assembly (DFA), testing (DFT), and maintenance (DFS), while vividly explaining how R&D, manufacturing, testing, supply chain, and quality departments engage with these dimensions through their respective focus areas. By clarifying roles and responsibilities, he effectively guided departments in integrating DFX principles into daily operations to achieve cross-functional collaboration.

To deepen understanding, the training program featured carefully designed case-sharing sessions and discussion segments. Leveraging his extensive practical experience and the company's current projects, Dr. Hu guided participants through brainstorming exercises to explore potential applications and improvement opportunities for DFX in existing product development. Under Dr. Hu's facilitation, groups engaged in lively discussions, sharing numerous real-world experiences and challenges that inspired innovative approaches to enhance product design and process quality.

Dr. Hu concluded by emphasizing that the core consensus of this training program lies in DFX's essence: "collaboration" and "prevention". The initiative requires all departments to break free from traditional functional silos, form synergistic forces, and embed the concept of building exceptional products into the design phase. This training not only conveys knowledge but also marks a crucial step for the company toward refined R&D and lean management. It provides robust methodological support for developing more competitive products with higher customer satisfaction in future markets.
